Black Diamond Homes for Sale | Real Estate

black diamond policeBlack Diamond is a rural, small town located in southeast King County, in an area tucked away between the beautiful Green River Gorge and Flaming Geyser Park.  The city is on the verge of a population growth as Maple Valley encroaches from the north and Enumclaw from the south.  Black Diamond has a rough population of 4,200 residents with a projection of reaching 20,000 in the next 20 years.  The city has had sever major annexations increasing its population and acreage.  As the acreage gets developed, especially when the timber companies sell off their land, so will the size of Black Diamond explode into new developments.  Although, the community has kept to a vision and growth strategy in their Comprehensive Plan to keep growth occurring in a well-planned, environmentally sensitive manner that protects the rural character of the community.  As the name implies, Black Diamond began with coal mining in the area in the 1880's.  The coal was transported to Seattle by the Pacific Coast Coal train.  The mine lasted until just after WWI but then began mining again in the 1930's.  The city of Black Diamond finally incorporated in February of 1959.
