Auburn is a commuter’s dream if you plan to work in Seattle or Tacoma. This city is in the heart of the Green River Valley with quick access to the larger cities. The Sounder Train zips commuters to and from work everyday. A once farming valley changed to one of the largest industrial complexes in the northwest where two railroads pass through. A large “Super Mall” or now called the Outlet Collection with special shopping outlets, Green River Community College, Emerald Downs Horse Racing Track, White River Amphitheater and over 30 parks and 3 golf courses grace this city. The Muckleshoot Tribe is the only Indian Reservation in all of King County and is near Auburn. The history of the Tribe and early settlers such as Lieutenant Slaughter is fascinating and must be researched to understand how Auburn got its name. The Neely Mansion is a historical landmark and Victorian mansion show you how life must have been in the Auburn valley in the late 1800s.
