With a population of only 793 and a mile and a half long, Roy is a rural city outside of Tacoma featuring ranch-style homes and farms. In the early days, Roy was a major stop on the railroad line but after the fire and depression of the 1930’s Roy decreased growth. The Army annexed the land around JBLM north and west which limited expansion of Roy and the tax base. Don’t miss the Roy Pioneer Rodeo and recognize the local community for organizing 4-H and Scouting.
